Baghdad: Parliament Speaker Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani emphasized the importance of broad participation in the upcoming elections as the best way to solidify democratic values. Al-Mashhadani made this statement on the occasion of National Day, reflecting on the sacrifices made by Iraq's forebears who achieved independence and laid the groundwork for the modern Iraqi state. Celebrating Iraq's 1932 entry into the League of Nations, he underscored the enduring responsibility to honor the nation.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Mashhadani highlighted Iraq's rich history and the need to plan a future that respects its people, focusing on national unity, social justice, and comprehensive development. He stated that the Council of Representatives is committed to executing its legislative and oversight duties to ensure the rule of law, protect citizens' rights, and support reconstruction and development efforts. This commitment aims to rebuild cities, ensure fair distribution of resources, and establish a robust state grounded in the Constitution.

Al-Mashhadani reiterated the critical role of broad electoral participation in reinforcing democratic principles, renewing the political landscape, and empowering young people to assume significant roles in decision-making. He extended his heartfelt congratulations to Iraqis both domestically and abroad, expressing hopes for a stronger and more prosperous future for Iraq.
