Baghdad: The Islamic Resistance - Kata'ib Hezbollah issued a strongly worded statement on Sunday, criticizing what it called the "initiative" of US President Donald Trump, describing it as "full of traps and more extreme" than the proposals of the occupation leaders.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Hezbollah Brigades condemned "the US administration's continued, unlimited, criminal support for the Zionist barbarism that is committing genocide against the defenseless Palestinian people." Regarding Trump's initiative, the statement stated that it falls within the context of supporting the entity and that it is "full of traps, even more extreme than the proposals of the criminals Ben-Gvir and Smotrich."

The Brigades emphasized that "it is unreasonable for a torturer to appoint himself as a judge and claim to be fair to a people when he has excelled in torturing, killing, and displacing them." The Hezbollah Brigades expressed their confidence in "the wisdom and skill of the Palestinian resistance leaders in transforming this threat into an opportunity to consolidate steadfastness."

They affirmed their belief that the patience of the Palestinian people will lead them to the paths of independence and liberation, thereby nullifying the enemies' deceit and foiling their bets on liquidating the Palestinian cause. The Brigades appealed to Arab and Islamic countries, urging them to "rise to the level of their responsibilities at this time." The difficult situation, and stands with the Palestinian people in a just manner, to help them achieve their legitimate demands, in honor of their sacrifices and to preserve their dignity."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his approval of the US peace plan, while Hamas announced, on Friday evening, its acceptance of some of the plan's provisions and called for continued negotiations on other details. The plan stipulates the release of all Israeli detainees in Gaza in exchange for the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, along with a gradual withdrawal of the Israeli army from the Strip, Hamas's surrender of its weapons, and an increase in the volume of humanitarian aid provided to the population of Gaza. It also stipulates the formation of a transitional Palestinian government of technocrats under international supervision at a later stage.
