Baghdad: Chairman of the Media and Communications Commission, Nawfal Abu Raghyf, engaged in discussions with the Ukrainian Ambassador to Iraq, Ivan Dovganich, focusing on mechanisms for joint cooperation in the communications sector. The discussions also covered practical measures to combat media disinformation campaigns and enhance the reliability of information sources.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Commission released a statement detailing the meeting’s focus on media disinformation that targets Ukraine through sensitive accusations and media statements involving illegal activities within both Iraqi and regional contexts. The Ukrainian embassy has firmly denied the dissemination of such fabricated news.

Abu Raghyf highlighted the Commission’s commitment to monitoring fact-checking efforts and combating misleading content. He stressed the importance of local media outlets in verifying accuracy, relying on official sources, and avoiding the propagation of rumors or involvement in malicious campaigns.

In response, the Ukrainian Ambassador reiterated Ukraine’s non-involvement in activities concerning resources or issues outside its territory. He emphasized Ukraine’s adherence to international law and its rejection of any subversive actions.
