Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that his country will be part of the task force that will monitor the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, and that it will contribute to reconstruction efforts in cooperation with the international community.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a speech delivered on Thursday at the opening of the new academic year, Erdogan stated, “Turkey will closely monitor the full implementation of the terms of the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel.” He emphasized Turkey’s commitment to reconstruction efforts in Gaza, stressing the importance of peace and stability in the region.

Erdogan highlighted the necessity of urgent humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, the implementation of a prisoner exchange, and an immediate halt to Israeli attacks. He urged Israel to withdraw to the agreed-upon borders and expressed hope for peace in the region. Erdogan also noted the significant role of US President Donald Trump in achieving the ceasefire and thanked Qatar and Egypt for their contributions.

Trump announced at dawn on Thursday that Israel and Hamas had agreed on the initial phase of his plan. This includes an Israeli withdrawal to an agreed line and a prisoner exchange set for Monday, October 13. Hamas confirmed that the agreement outlines an end to the war, an Israeli withdrawal, the entry of aid, and a prisoner exchange, calling for the occupation government to fulfill the agreement’s requirements.

Qatar reported reaching an agreement on the terms and mechanisms for implementing the first phase of the Trump plan, which aims to achieve a ceasefire, the release of detainees and prisoners, and the entry of aid, with further details to be revealed later.
