Washington: US President Donald Trump threatened today to impose additional 100% tariffs on China and controls on the export of strategic software to the country, starting November 1, after China imposed strict restrictions on the export of rare earth minerals.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Trump said in a post on the Truth Social platform: “Based on this unprecedented position, the United States of America will impose 100% tariffs on China, in addition to any tariffs it is currently paying.” The US President explained that he decided to impose these new tariffs due to the export controls China has imposed on rare earth elements.

For its part, China announced that it will impose special port fees on ships owned or operated by US institutions, organizations, or individuals, effective October 14, indicating that these measures came in response to the additional port fees imposed by the United States on Chinese ships.
