Nineveh: The Military Intelligence Directorate successfully thwarted an oil smuggling operation in Nineveh. The operation targeted organized crime gangs and oil smugglers in the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Directorate released a statement detailing the successful mission led by the 14th Division’s Intelligence and Security Department. Based on precise intelligence information, it was confirmed that a vehicle intended for smuggling oil derivatives was present on the Makhmur road in Nineveh. In response, military intelligence detachments executed a well-planned ambush, resulting in the seizure of a vehicle carrying over 3,000 liters of fuel earmarked for smuggling. The driver of the vehicle was also arrested.

The Directorate further noted that several fuel tanks were seized and handled following established procedures. This operation underscores the ongoing efforts to combat organized crime and illegal activities in the region.
