Oil Prices Rise More Than 1% After Sharp Losses

Baghdad: Oil prices recovered some gains on Monday, after hitting their lowest levels in five months in the previous session, as investors hoped that potential talks between the US and Chinese presidents would ease trade tensions between the world's two largest economies and oil consumers. Brent crude futures rose 87 cents, or 1.39%, to $63.60 a barrel, after settling down 3.82% on Friday to their lowest levels since May 7. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude rose 87 cents, or 1.48%, to $59.77 a barrel, after falling 4.24% to reach its lowest levels since May 7. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the recovery in oil prices is being closely watched by market participants, who are hopeful that any positive diplomatic developments between the US and China could lead to a reduction in trade tensions. The anticipation of discussions between the two nations' leaders has provided a temporary boost to investor sentiment, contributing to the recent rise in prices.
