PM Highlights Strategic Use of NATO Mission for Iraqi Armed Forces’ Training Enhancement


Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani met with the Commander of the NATO Mission in Iraq, General Christoph Hintze, and his delegation to discuss the ongoing cooperation between Iraq and NATO. The discussions focused on leveraging NATO’s presence to improve training opportunities for the Iraqi armed forces.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Sudani emphasized the importance of future bilateral cooperation with NATO member states. He highlighted Iraq’s strategic use of the NATO mission to boost training across all formations of its armed forces, thereby supporting and enhancing the country’s technical and military capabilities. This initiative aims to ensure that Iraqi forces can continue to perform their duties effectively and develop their combat skills.



General Hintze, in response, commended the Iraqi security forces for their exemplary performance and ability to execute tasks nationwide. He underscored the mission’s commitment to monitoring and developing its relationship with Iraq, supported by the technical team. Hintze also noted the significance of the joint cooperation, particularly following al-Sudani’s visit to NATO headquarters in Brussels, where he engaged with the Secretary-General and other leaders of member states.
