Ankara: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed efforts to consolidate the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip with his Jordanian and Egyptian counterparts, Ayman Safadi and Badr Abdel Ati, respectively. The discussions also focused on facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Fidan conducted two separate phone calls with Safadi and Egyptian officials, concentrating on the logistics of delivering humanitarian support to Gaza and strategizing on making the ceasefire permanent.

In a related diplomatic engagement, Fidan met with Turkish Intelligence Chief Ibrahim Kalin, Hamas Shura Council Chairman Mohammed Ismail Darwish, and members of Hamas's political bureau during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Qatar. The meeting was held in Doha last Tuesday evening, although details of the discussions were not disclosed.

The backdrop to these diplomatic efforts is a recent announcement by US President Donald Trump regarding an agreement between Israel and Hamas. This agreement marks the first phase of a proposed plan involving a ceasefire and prisoner exchange, negotiated indirectly in Sharm el-Sheikh with the involvement of Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, and under US supervision.
