Babylon: A man suspected of practicing witchcraft was apprehended by the Babylon Police Command during an attempted smuggling operation involving magical materials at the Al-Shuhada checkpoint, located in the northern part of the province.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the arrest was made after security personnel at the checkpoint grew suspicious of the individual during a routine inspection. Upon searching, they discovered the man in possession of various items, including papers inscribed with talismans and enigmatic writings. Additionally, beads, stones, and a black rosary coated with honey were found, all of which are believed to be tools used in acts of sorcery and deception.
The suspect has been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further legal proceedings. The Babylon Police Command emphasized in their statement that they are committed to continuing their efforts against those who engage in or promote witchcraft and superstition, as these practices are seen as threats to both religious beliefs and the security of the community.
