Kirkuk Provincial Council Issues Statement on Altun Kupri Incidents


Kirkuk: Chairman of the Kirkuk Provincial Council, Engineer Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Hafez, called on all parties in the Altun Kupri subdistrict to calm down and exercise self-restraint, and not to be drawn into any escalation that could threaten civil peace and societal unity in the province.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a statement, Al-Hafez stressed that the Council is closely following the recent security developments in the subdistrict and is working in coordination with security and government leaders to ensure the return of calm and stability to the region. He pointed out that dialogue and adherence to the law are the best way to resolve any dispute.



He called on the people of Kirkuk, with all their components, to embrace reason and wisdom and preserve the spirit of coexistence that characterizes the province, stressing that Kirkuk’s security and stability are everyone’s responsibility.
