Baghdad: President of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, Moaid Al-Lami, has reaffirmed Iraq’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, emphasizing the solidarity of the Iraqi press with the Palestinian people in their ongoing struggle against Israeli actions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Lami made these remarks during a meeting with Ahmad Al-Ruwaidi, the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Iraq, who was visiting the Syndicate’s headquarters in Baghdad as his diplomatic mission comes to an end.

During their meeting, Al-Lami reiterated Iraq’s consistent backing of the Palestinian people. He noted that the General Secretariat of the Federation of Arab Journalists, in its recent session held in Laayoune, Morocco, resolved to send a delegation to the Gaza Strip. This delegation aims to assess the dire humanitarian conditions and advocate for urgent aid to reach Palestinian journalists, martyrs, and those injured.

Al-Lami also mentioned that the Federation is calling for the creation of an
international fact-finding committee. This committee would document crimes committed against journalists and media institutions by Israeli forces and lodge an official complaint with the International Criminal Court, seeking accountability for those responsible, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Ambassador Al-Ruwaidi expressed his gratitude towards the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate for its supportive stance on the Palestinian issue, acknowledging the significant role of Iraqi media in championing the Palestinian cause within the Arab world.
