Amman: President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, emphasized Iraq’s dedication to bolstering its historical and fraternal ties with Jordan during his meeting with King Abdullah II in Amman. The discussions at Basman Palace focused on enhancing bilateral relations and addressing political, security, and economic developments in the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the President highlighted Iraq’s commitment to joint efforts that benefit both nations and support regional security, stability, and development. King Abdullah welcomed the President and his delegation, recognizing the importance of ongoing cooperation in energy, trade, transportation, and economic integration to further strengthen ties between the two countries.

The leaders explored opportunities to increase economic, trade, and investment collaboration, including joint electrical projects and facilitating trade and movement between Iraq and Jordan. They encouraged investment from Jordanian and Iraqi companies in projects that would create jobs and promote sustainable economic growth.

Discussions also covered regional and international issues, with both parties stressing the importance of Arab consultations to address shared challenges, particularly political and economic crises. The leaders advocated for peaceful solutions that uphold state sovereignty and security.

On the Palestinian issue, both leaders reaffirmed their support for the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights, including the establishment of an independent state. They called for de-escalation, civilian protection, and international action to resolve the issue according to international resolutions.

The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing on the necessity of continued dialogue between their leaderships to support regional and international security and to advance the interests of their peoples in stability and development.

The expanded meeting included officials from both nations, who discussed measures to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation on mutual interests. The Iraqi delegation included Dr. Ali Al-Shukri and Kahdar Mohammed Saeed, while the Jordanian side was represented by Ayman Safadi, Alaa Batayneh, and Yarub Qudah, among others.
