New york: A report issued by UN Women warned of the negative repercussions of significant cuts in government aid allocated to programs of organizations and civil society organizations concerned with protecting women’s rights.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the report, which was published at the UN headquarters in New York yesterday evening, indicated that more than a third of aid programs aimed at supporting organizations and civil society organizations working to promote women’s rights have been suspended or terminated.
The report explained that the loss of funding has forced many of these organizations to focus on providing only essential services, rather than long-term advocacy that contributes to bringing about fundamental and sustainable change in this field.
