Wasit: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has called upon citizens to engage actively in the forthcoming elections, asserting that “active and informed participation is not optional, but a national duty.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani made these remarks during an electoral gathering in Wasit Province, where he underscored the government’s accomplishments in various sectors. These include efforts to support citizens, improve services, combat corruption, and drive economic reform.

Al-Sudani detailed several social and economic projects, such as extending benefits to 103,000 families and over 400,000 individual beneficiaries, along with grants to 108,000 students. Infrastructure projects worth 231 billion IQD have been initiated, focusing on water, sewage, and road rehabilitation.

Education has seen significant investment with the construction of 71 new schools and the rehabilitation of 220 existing buildings. Housing projects led by the Ministry of Housing total 432 billion IQD, alongside the resumption of the Turkish Hospital project and the launch of Wasit Hospital, which offers 100 beds.

In agriculture, projects are in place to ensure food security and maintain reserves for a year and a half. The electricity sector has received considerable attention, with 60 billion IQD allocated for energy transmission, another 60 billion IQD for distribution, and plans for a new 1,500 MW solar power plant.

Additional funding exceeding 2.474 trillion IQD has been allocated to Wasit to further support reconstruction and public services.

Concluding his speech, Al-Sudani emphasized that “a sincere vote protects achievements, and a conscious choice preserves the state from deviation and prevents corruption and failure.”
