Turkish Delegation Stresses Need for Comprehensive Kurdish Solution

Istanbul: A Turkish party delegation, after meeting Abdullah ‚¬€œcalan in prison, stressed the need for a comprehensive solution to the Kurdish issue within the framework of the Turkish state. A delegation from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), which visited Kurdish leader Abdullah ‚¬€œcalan in Imrali prison last Monday, confirmed that the meeting lasted three hours and was positive, noting that ‚¬€œcalan was in good health and spirits.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the delegation issued a statement after the meeting, emphasizing the importance of addressing Turkish-Kurdish relations as a historical foundation that must be understood and strengthened for national unity. The delegation called for a comprehensive approach to resolving current issues instead of imposing restrictions, stressing the need to develop a positive phase under difficult circumstances and to avoid destructive or negative actions. It considered the integration of the Kurdish issue within the framework of the Turkish state as essential for an effective transition and for strengthening the legal foundations of democracy.

The Kurdish party also stressed in its statement the need for everyone to act responsibly and with sensitivity to ensure the success of this phase, without providing details about the parliamentary committee’s visit to Imrali. It is worth noting that a delegation from the Kurdish party met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan a few days prior to discuss steps to resolve the new Kurdish crisis.
