Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has declared the current elections as the most crucial since 2003, emphasizing the decisive role citizens’ choices will play in shaping the future of Baghdad and Iraq for decades to come.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during an electoral event in the capital, Al-Sudani expressed his commitment to excellence at the ballot box and the elimination of failures, corruption, and limited vision, advocating instead for growth and development. He highlighted the initiation of projects with careful planning and a dedicated follow-up to achieve tangible outcomes.

The Prime Minister underscored the government’s long-term vision, with plans spanning 25 years for Baghdad and Iraq, attributing the success of these projects to the support and participation of citizens. He stated that the trust and strength derived from the people of Baghdad motivate the government to fulfill its duties.

Al-Sudani announced a strategic expansion of the Baghdad Municipality’s jurisdiction, including additional districts and sub-districts, through the ‘Greater Baghdad Municipality’ project aimed at streamlining administrative and public services. He elaborated on the challenging conditions under which his government was formed, including stalled projects, frozen funds exceeding $100 billion, a one-dimensional economy, and limited employment prospects.

The government’s priorities, according to Al-Sudani, are centered around addressing the needs of Iraqi families, youth, students, workers, farmers, and employees, with a focus on combating corruption, reducing unemployment, and improving public services. He asserted that significant results have been achieved in various economic, service, and developmental fields.

The Prime Minister urged citizens to participate actively in the elections to safeguard the country’s achievements, emphasizing the long-term impact of every vote. He stressed the importance of voting not only for a candidate but for the present and future of Iraq, highlighting that the outcome of the elections will determine Iraq’s trajectory over the next four years.
