US Treasury Removes Ahmed al-Sharaa from Global Terrorist List

Washington: The US Treasury Department announced the removal of the name of the Syrian interim president, Ahmed al-Sharaa, from the sanctions list, along with that of his Interior Minister, Anas Khattab.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the decision was issued by the Office of Foreign Assets Control and came less than 24 hours after a similar decision by the UN Security Council. The Treasury Department stated the update on its website, marking a significant shift in international policy concerning the Syrian interim government.

Al-Sharaa is expected to pay an official visit to the White House next Monday, signaling potential diplomatic engagements between the US and the Syrian interim administration. This development could pave the way for future relations and discussions on Syria's political landscape.
