Baghdad: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi congratulated the Iraqi government and people on Friday on the successful parliamentary elections, emphasizing that the electoral process constituted an important milestone in strengthening political stability and consolidating the democratic process in Iraq.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a message published on the “X” platform, Araqchi said that Iran “congratulates the Friendly elections characterized by security and calm,” praising “the efforts of Iraqi institutions in ensuring the smooth and peaceful conduct of the electoral process.”

He added that “the recent elections represent a pivotal step in consolidating democracy, protecting Iraq’s sovereignty and security, and strengthening the role of constitutional institutions in the coming phase.”

The Iranian Foreign Minister reiterated Tehran’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations, noting that Iran is continuing to develop joint cooperation with Iraq in various areas of mutual interest, indicating ongoing political and economic support between the two countries.
