Baghdad: The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) has outlined the comprehensive process involved in allocating seats and naming winners, which involves several stages before the announcement of final election results.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, IHEC's Deputy Spokesperson Nibras Abu Souda explained that the Commission is focused on resolving complaints and appeals prior to ratifying the final list of winners. Abu Souda stated, "The process of allocating seats and naming winners goes through several stages before the final results are announced."

She further elaborated that the Commission initially addresses the submitted complaints and addresses the issues concerning polling stations that failed to send their results within the first six hours post ballot box closure. These results were initially expected to be delivered via the Means of Transportation.

Abu Souda also highlighted that the preliminary results announced are open to appeals, which are subsequently managed and resolved by both the Commission and the Judicial Electoral Commission. Once all appeals are resolved, the Judicial Commission provides official notification to the Commission, signaling the end of this stage.

Following the resolution of appeals, IHEC forwards the final results to the Federal Supreme Court for ratification. The results submitted to the court include the names of the 329 MPs who will occupy seats in the House of Representatives. Abu Souda emphasized that the timeline for this process is not fixed, as it depends on the completion of required procedural steps.
