Tashkent: The Ministry of Planning announced today Iraq's participation in the 2025 SMIIC Annual Meetings, held in the Uzbek capital, Tashkent, from November 11 to 13, 2025.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Iraqi delegation was headed by Mushtaq Mu'in Muhammad, Director General of the Quality Control Department at the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control, accompanied by a number of specialists. The delegation actively participated in the meetings of the Governance Committee and the Finance Committee, in addition to attending the 30th meeting of the Board of Directors and the 20th meeting of the General Assembly of the organization.
During its interventions, the Iraqi delegation emphasized Iraq's commitment to strengthening the quality infrastructure in OIC member states and supporting joint programs in standardization, metrology, and conformity assessment. The delegation stressed the importance of technical harmonization and facilitating trade among member states.
It also highlighted Iraq's role in developing technical capabilities through training and cooperation programs that contribute to improving technical and professional practices.
On the sidelines of the meetings, the Iraqi delegation held several bilateral meetings with delegations from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Turkey to discuss prospects for enhancing international cooperation and exchanging expertise in the fields of quality and standardization.
