Ousted Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina Sentenced to Death for Crimes Against Humanity

Dhaka: A court in Bangladesh on Monday sentenced ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to death for crimes against humanity, amid thunderous cheers from the crowd as the judge read the verdict. The ruling was broadcast live on national television and comes ahead of the first elections since her removal from power in August 2024.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Hasina was found guilty on three charges, including incitement, ordering murder, and failing to prevent atrocities. Judge Ghulam Murtaza Muzumdar delivered the verdict to a packed court in Dhaka, marking a significant moment in the country's political landscape.
