Baghdad: The National Security Council, during its regular meeting chaired by Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mohammed Shia Al Sudani, lauded the crucial efforts made by the Supreme Security Committee for the Parliamentary Elections. The committee, led by Lieutenant General Qais Al-Mahmoudawi, along with its subsidiary committees, was praised for ensuring a seamless electoral process.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Sabah Al-Numan, stated that the council assessed the overall security situation in Iraq, deliberated on various agenda items, and made necessary decisions and recommendations. The council expressed appreciation for the security forces' professional handling of election security and the effective intelligence efforts that accompanied the process. This performance highlighted the Iraqi forces' capability to manage and secure events at a high professional level, enhancing national pride in their security institutions.

The council also evaluated the report from the Supreme Committee for Security Sector Reform and sanctioned the executive plan presented. Ministries and security agencies have been instructed to execute the plan. Additionally, the meeting scrutinized the government program report on security and intelligence agencies for the year 2025, focusing on the accomplishments of relevant ministries and security bodies.

Moreover, the council examined the third quarter report on Iraq's cybersecurity status, along with recommendations from the National Cybersecurity Center.
