Baghdad: The Minister of Justice, Khalid Shawani, has affirmed the ministry’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of French inmates in correctional facilities. In a recent meeting with the French Ambassador to Baghdad, Patrick Durel, Shawani emphasized the importance of maintaining the welfare of all inmates, including those from France, in line with international human rights standards.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting addressed the conditions of French inmates held in correctional facilities and discussed the level of services provided to them in accordance with applicable regulations. Shawani highlighted that the Ministry of Justice is dedicated to fulfilling the needs of inmates through comprehensive programs that cover legal, humanitarian, and health aspects of their lives.
The French Ambassador, Patrick Durel, expressed appreciation for the significant efforts made by the Ministry of Justice in caring for foreign inmates, particularly those from France. He lauded the quality of services provided and the ministry’s facilitation of regular family visits through efficient procedures.
