Kirkuk: A security source announced the arrest of a suspect involved in the burning of the Iraqi flag in Kirkuk. Intelligence and counter-terrorism units successfully apprehended one individual believed to be connected to the incident that occurred in the Al-Iskan area, north of Kirkuk.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, unknown individuals set fire to the Iraqi flag on Wednesday. This act of vandalism followed the direction of the Iraqi Turkmen Front's head, Mohammed Saman Agha, to raise the flag after his image was burned the day before the elections at the same location.
Kirkuk Police Chief, Brigadier General Fatah Mahmoud Yassin Al-Khafaji, along with other security leaders, took swift action by re-raising the Iraqi flag just hours after it was burned. The incident has heightened tensions in the area, prompting increased security measures to prevent further unrest.
