Foreign Minister Leads Committee Review on US Treasury List Additions

Baghdad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein chaired a meeting today of the High National Committee tasked with reviewing the US Treasury Department's decision of October 9, 2025, to add several entities and individuals to its lists.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building, with the attendance of the Prime Minister's advisor and committee members representing relevant ministries and government agencies. The committee discussed the measures taken by the relevant authorities and the proposed mechanisms for addressing the issues raised both domestically and internationally.

During the meeting, available legal options and means were discussed, with an emphasis on continuing to hold meetings in the coming period and preparing subsequent sessions to host additional stakeholders to follow up on developments in this matter. The Minister stressed the importance of maintaining the strength of Iraq's international financial relations, continuing to implement economic reform programs, and strengthening governance principles in light of supreme national interests.
