A presidential statement indicated that President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid received today, Thursday, at Baghdad Palace, the Charg d'Affaires of the US Embassy, Joshua Harris, who offered his condolences on the death of his brother, the late Shamal Jamal Rashid.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting discussed relations between the two countries and ways to develop joint cooperation in various fields to serve the interests of the two friendly peoples. They also reviewed developments in the regional and international situation, emphasizing the importance of joint coordination to confront existing challenges, thus contributing to ensuring stability and security in the region.

The statement noted that the President expressed his gratitude for the letter he received from US President Donald Trump on November 21, 2025, which included appreciation for the campaign to promote peace in troubled regions around the world.

President Trump also asked President Rashid for his continued support to help ensure "a brighter future for our citizens and the world."
