Basra: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani conducted a field tour today, Thursday, of the three Grand Faw Port projects: the five berths, the navigation channel, and the container handling yard. During the tour, Al-Sudani reviewed the progress of the works and commended the efforts of the project workers, emphasizing the necessity of completing the projects due to their importance to the country.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the navigation channel has achieved 100% completion, with a final depth of 19.8 meters, extending for 23 kilometers and with a width of 200 meters. It forms a vital part of the Khor Abdullah waterway. The container handling yard has reached 96.5% completion. It measures 2,000 meters in length and 600 meters in width, with a capacity of 3 million containers annually. The total length of the five berths is 1,750 meters, representing 100% completion.
