Basra: The head of the Security Committee in the Basra Provincial Council, Dr. Aqeel Talib Al-Friji, has voiced strong opposition to the decision to restructure the Central Bank's branch in Basra, asserting that the decision fails to reflect the province's economic significance. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Friji conveyed his disapproval in a statement to the Media Center, emphasizing that Basra holds a critical position as an economic and commercial center in Iraq. He argued that this status necessitates the enhancement of financial institutions within the province, rather than diminishing their influence. Al-Friji further expressed his solidarity with the branch's employees and its director in their resistance to the restructuring decision, labeling it as 'unfair' and without justification. He warned that reducing the Central Bank's role in Basra could undermine the province's position and essential functions.
