Karbala: Karbala Provincial Police Command announced the arrest of two Arab nationals involved in the smuggling and trafficking of antiquities, following a security operation based on precise intelligence information.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the police revealed that specialized units, after receiving intelligence indicating that the suspects were engaged in illegal activities related to the buying and selling of antiquities, launched surveillance and monitoring operations and obtained the required judicial warrants.
The police statement detailed that a well-planned security operation was carried out, resulting in the suspects' arrest in flagrante delicto. Several ancient manuscripts were seized in their possession, in addition to one laptop computer and two mobile phones.
The police confirmed that an official seizure report was prepared for the confiscated items, legal measures were taken against the suspects, and they were referred to the competent authorities to complete the investigation in accordance with the law.
