Tehran: President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for stronger unity and cohesion among Muslims, stating there is no religious justification for divisions within the Islamic world. Speaking during a cabinet meeting, Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of reinforcing unity, convergence, and solidarity among the Islamic Ummah as a ‘vital necessity’ in today’s world.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Pezeshkian questioned whether God has ordered division or forbidden it, highlighting that Muslims share one book and one prophet. He underscored that there is no ground for division in Islam. He further noted that the life of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was characterized by respect for human rights and human dignity, pointing out that Muslims have common principles, objectives, and beliefs, and that minor differences are ‘manageable’.

Pezeshkian expressed hope that discussions at a conference marking the 1,500th anniversary of the Prophet’s birth would lead to practical guidelines for Islamic countries. He suggested that applying the Prophet’s teachings in personal and social life could eliminate discord and prevent external powers from exploiting divisions in the Muslim world. Iran has consistently advocated for greater unity among Muslim countries, particularly amid heightened regional tensions and conflicts across the Middle East.
