Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed that his country desires to achieve security and stability, preserve Sudan's territorial integrity, and establish lasting peace by ensuring a ceasefire. During his meeting with the Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Erdogan emphasized the importance of cooperation between Turkey and Sudan in various fields such as trade, agriculture, defense industries, and mining.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Erdogan highlighted Turkey's commitment to addressing the humanitarian crisis in Sudan by providing further humanitarian aid. He expressed concern over the ongoing conflict in Sudan, particularly in the El Fasher region, where acts amounting to crimes against humanity are being reported. Erdogan stressed the necessity of taking serious and decisive steps to prevent such violations.

The meeting also focused on enhancing bilateral relations between Turkey and Sudan and discussing regional and international developments. The situation in Sudan remains tense, with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) recently announcing their control over the strategic city of Babanusa in West Kordofan State after clashes with the army. The Kordofan region has seen intense fighting, leading to the displacement of tens of thousands of people.

The RSF controls most of the five Darfur states, except parts of North Darfur, which are under army control. Meanwhile, the Sudanese army maintains its influence over the majority of the country's 18 states, including the capital, Khartoum.
