Ankara: The Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, arrived in Ankara this afternoon on an official invitation from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Al-Burhan was received at the entrance to the Presidential Complex by President Erdogan, along with several high-ranking Turkish officials, including Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Defense Minister Yasar Gler, and Agriculture Minister Ibrahim Yumakli.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the anticipated talks between the two leaders will focus on strengthening bilateral relations between Turkey and Sudan. Discussions are also expected to cover the latest developments in Sudan, the humanitarian crisis stemming from the ongoing conflict, and necessary steps to achieve regional stability.

Sudan is currently facing a severe humanitarian crisis due to the ongoing war between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces. The conflict, which began in April 2023 over disagreements regarding the unification of the military establishment, has led to the deaths of tens of thousands of people. Additionally, approximately 13 million individuals have been displaced both within Sudan and beyond its borders.
