Ankara: Iranian authorities announced the detection and arrest of a cell linked to “terrorist and hostile” groups in the city of Saravan. The cell was planning assassinations against security forces.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, citing the public relations office of the Quds Force headquarters in southeastern Iran, the arrests were made during ongoing operational maneuvers. Through precise intelligence procedures, the relevant authorities were able to identify and apprehend the cell.

The statement indicated that the arrested cell was responsible for carrying out several terrorist operations in the Saravan region over the past year.

The statement added that initial investigations revealed the detainees confessed to planning and executing assassinations targeting security forces in Saravan, under direct orders from terrorist and hostile groups.

Saravan is administratively part of Sistan and Baluchestan province, and is located 347 kilometers southeast of Zahedan, the provincial capital, along the border with Pakistan.
