Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani chaired a meeting on Thursday to discuss the introduction of rapid and smart solutions for electricity supply in the outskirts of Baghdad and other provinces, attended by a number of concerned officials and advisers. The meeting focused on reviewing mechanisms for implementing smart solar energy projects and connecting them to medium-voltage distribution lines to reduce losses, ease network loads, and increase production, in preparation for the upcoming summer season.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, plans for applying these projects and preparing to launch investment opportunities were also presented, following the completion of preparations at more than 120 sites across various provinces and the outskirts of Baghdad, based on an economically viable model with highly encouraging costs. The projects aim to reduce pressure on the national grid and address power shortages.

The meeting emphasized completing the projects through coordination between the National Team for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency and the High Commission for Coordination among Provinces, as well as holding meetings with governors to approve implementation mechanisms.
