Baghdad: Head of the National State Forces Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim, discussed bilateral relations and political developments in Iraq and the region with Joshua Harris, the US Charg© d'Affaires in Baghdad.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Hakim received Harris on Thursday evening. During the meeting, they exchanged views on political developments in Iraq and the region, as well as bilateral relations between Baghdad and Washington, in a way that serves the interests of all parties and preserves Iraq's sovereignty.

Al-Hakim emphasized the importance of maintaining the security, political, and social stability achieved in Iraq, noting that "the next challenge is the economic one, particularly diversifying income sources and revitalizing productive sectors," and calling for the adoption of strategic solutions in this area.

He also explained the nature of the obligations arising from the results of the recent elections, praising the success of the political blocs in electing the Speaker of Parliament and his two deputies, and stressing the importance of adhering to the constitutional timelines for the remaining obligations.
