PM Affirms To European Ambassadors: The Principle Of Restricting Weapons To The State Enjoys National Consensus And Has Become Accepted And Universally Acknowledged


Baghdad: Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani emphasized the importance of supporting efforts to achieve stability and security in the region.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, his media office stated in a press release that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani received the ambassadors of the European Union member states accredited to Iraq on Tuesday. Al-Sudani affirmed that the 2025 elections represented a pivotal event in the history of the political process in Iraq, given their integrity and smooth conduct, and the high level of active participation, which indicated a return of some of the people’s confidence in the political process and the democratic system based on the peaceful transfer of power.



Al-Sudani explained that the government has implemented significant structural reforms across various sectors over the past three years, and has succeeded in attracting Arab and foreign investments and providing an attractive environment for the local and foreign private sector.



The Prime Minister stated that the principle of restricting weapons to the state enjoys national consensus and has become widely accepted. Discussions are now focused on the timing and mechanism, which represents a clear positive development.
