Pentagon: North Korea’s Nuclear Forces Are Developing and Posing a Threat to US Territory

Baghdad: The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced that North Korea’s nuclear forces have become more capable of threatening US territory. The Pentagon anticipates a more limited US role in deterrence, with South Korea assuming primary responsibility.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Document, known as the National Defense Strategy, which guides Pentagon policy, states: “North Korea’s nuclear forces have become more capable of threatening US territory. These forces are growing in size and capability, posing a clear and present nuclear threat to the US homeland.”

The Document confirms that North Korea’s missile forces are capable of striking targets in South Korea and Japan with conventional and nuclear weapons.

The Document also indicates that the US Department of Defense expects a more limited role in deterring North Korea, with a greater share of the responsibility being transferred to South Korea.
