Baghdad: MP Arshad al-Salihi, head of the Turkmen bloc, has extended his congratulations to Nouri al-Maliki following his nomination by the Coordination Framework for the position of Prime Minister. Al-Salihi expressed his hopes for al-Maliki’s continued success in fulfilling the responsibilities associated with this significant national role.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Salihi emphasized the importance of fair and equitable representation for the Turkmen community, which is recognized as the third largest ethnic group in Iraq. He highlighted the community’s century-long history of struggle and its substantial sacrifices, which include numerous martyrs and wounded individuals, as a basis for demanding proportional representation in all executive government institutions.
