Muscat: The Omani News Agency reported that Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi received a call from his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, in which the latter affirmed Tehran’s openness to any serious efforts that contribute to halting the escalation and restoring stability.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Araghchi conveyed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s position calling for peace, noting that the Israeli-American attack on his country was a cause of exacerbating the state of tension and panic in the region. He emphasized the Iranian side’s openness to any serious efforts that contribute to halting the escalation and restoring stability.
For his part, Al-Busaidi affirmed the Sultanate of Oman’s continued call for a ceasefire and a return to dialogue and negotiations to resolve the ongoing conflict diplomatically and in a way that fulfills the legitimate demands of all parties. He urged the Iranian side to exercise restraint and avoid anything that could undermine or disrupt good neighborly relations.
Earlier in the day, Araqchi emphasized in statements to Al Jazeera that “their relations are good with the countries on the other side of the Gulf,” adding, “We are not attacking our neighbors in the Gulf states, but rather the American presence in these countries.”
The Iranian Foreign Minister continued, “We know that the Gulf states are angry about our attacks, but they must understand that this is a war that has been imposed upon us.” He also stressed that the assassination attempt against Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was “a very dangerous and unprecedented act and a blatant violation of international law, and it will make the confrontation more complex and dangerous,” adding, “There are no restrictions or limits for us in defending ourselves.”
