Baghdad: The Iraqi Parliament affirmed its firm stance calling for an end to the war and a return to dialogue and peaceful means sanctioned by international law, in order to spare the peoples of the region further bloodshed and losses, and to preserve international peace and security. The Parliament’s leadership offered its condolences to the Iranian people on the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Sayyid Ali Khamenei, and a number of other Iranian leaders, during the American and Israeli airstrikes on Tehran.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Iraqi Parliament’s leadership expressed its rejection of military escalation in the region. The call for a ceasefire comes amid heightened tensions following the recent airstrikes, which resulted in significant casualties among Iranian leadership. Parliament emphasized the importance of returning to peaceful negotiations to address regional conflicts and uphold international peace and security.
