Baghdad: The General Company for Grain Trade at the Ministry of Trade announced today that its technical staff are continuing to supply government and private mills with quantities of local wheat as part of the first allocation for 2026. This is within the framework of supporting the food ration card program and ensuring a stable supply of flour to citizens.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the company's Director General, Haider Nouri Al-Karawi, stated: "These supply operations are part of a strategic plan by the Ministry aimed at ensuring the smooth flow of local wheat to mills, which contributes to the continued production of flour and the regular provision of food ration card items. The technical and engineering staff in the company's branches in the governorates are continuing to carry out routine maintenance work at storage sites and silos in preparation for the upcoming marketing season and to ensure the readiness of the infrastructure to receive the wheat harvest from farmers."

Al-Karawi emphasized that relying on local wheat to supply mills contributes to strengthening food security and supporting domestic products, as well as achieving stability in the local flour market.
