Foreign Minister Chairs First Political and Security Committee Meeting for Tripartite Cooperation Between Iraq, Jordan, and Egypt

Baghdad: Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein chaired the first meeting of the Political and Security Committee within the framework of the tripartite cooperation mechanism between Iraq, Jordan, and Egypt on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by National Security Advisor Qasim al-Aboudi, National Security Service Chief Basim al-Badri, and representatives from security and military agencies and relevant government institutions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting discussed several political and security issues, primarily focusing on strengthening political coordination among the three countries. It also explored the establishment of a joint mechanism to support nominations for international positions and the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding for strategic dialogue.

The meeting further addressed the development of security and intelligence cooperation in combating terrorism, organized crime, and transnational threats. Participants reviewed several proposals related to drafting memoranda of understanding for security and intelligence cooperation and facilitating the movement of businesspeople and investors. The outcomes of the meeting will be presented at future tripartite meetings, aiming to enhance regional security and develop mechanisms for joint Arab action.
