Iraq to Establish New Security Cooperation Framework with US Post-Coalition Mission

Baghdad: The spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Sabah Al-Numan, stated that Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi's visit to Washington signifies a strategic turning point in Iraq-U.S. relations. A new security cooperation framework is set to be established for the post-international coalition mission phase, with the decision to restrict weapons to state control garnering overwhelming public support and full compliance with the directives of the Supreme Religious Authority.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Al-Numan emphasized the significance of the high-level Iraqi government delegation's visit to Washington, led by Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ali Falih Al-Zaidi. The visit is seen as a historic and strategic milestone poised to shape the future of bilateral relations, aiming to advance ties towards a sustainable and balanced partnership that respects the national sovereignty of both countries.

Al-Numan highlighted that the ongoing negotiations in Washington, particularly with the U.S. Department of Defense, are built on a strong security foundation established through the sacrifices and achievements of Iraq's armed forces. On the topic of weapon restriction, Al-Numan reiterated that the decision to limit arms to state control is a sovereign decision supported by the public and aligned with the directives of the Supreme Religious Authority.
