Baghdad: The Speaker of the Parliament, Haibet Alhalbousi, met with the President of the Republic of Iraq, Nizar Amedi, to review the political and security situation in the country and explore ways to consolidate security and stability.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Media Office of the Speaker of Parliament issued a statement detailing the discussions between the two leaders. They highlighted the importance of complementary roles between the Parliament and the Presidency to enhance the performance of constitutional institutions. This collaboration is intended to support national development and reform efforts, focusing on combating corruption and upholding integrity and transparency principles. By backing oversight and judicial institutions, the leaders aim to recover public funds and hold individuals involved in corruption accountable, thus protecting public resources and reinforcing public trust in state institutions.

The statement also mentioned that the meeting addressed regional developments and current events, with efforts being made to protect Iraq from the impacts of regional crises, thereby safeguarding its sovereignty and national interests.
