Baghdad: The First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Adnan Faihan, called on the Director of the General Traffic Directorate, Lieutenant General Uday Samir, to enhance preparedness for the Arba’een pilgrimage and streamline procedures for citizens.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the media office of the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament released a statement indicating that Faihan met with Lieutenant General Uday Samir, alongside several members of Parliament. The meeting aimed to discuss the current state of the General Traffic Directorate’s operations, review its future plans, and address significant challenges. The discussions included ways to support the directorate’s efforts and improve performance through relevant parliamentary committees.

Faihan highlighted the need for intensified preparations at the main entry points to provinces expecting a large influx of pilgrims for the Arba’een of Imam Hussein. This preparation is crucial to facilitate traffic flow and reduce congestion during the pilgrimage.

He also stressed the necessity of simplifying administrative procedures and reducing bureaucracy in traffic departments to expedite citizens’ transactions efficiently.

Faihan further emphasized the importance of combating bribery and corruption. He also advocated for promoting traffic awareness and culture, aiming to protect citizens’ lives and reinforce adherence to traffic rules and public safety.
