Baghdad: The Director General of the Roads and Bridges Department, Hussein Jassim Kadhim, representing the Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Municipalities, inaugurated the Daquq Bridge in Kirkuk Governorate. The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governor, Ribwar Taha, the Mayor of Daquq District, and several members of the Provincial Council.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the bridge is over 1,000 meters long and 12.5 meters wide. It is considered a vital strategic project on the Baghdad-Kirkuk road, a major artery connecting the northern, central, and southern provinces of Iraq. The bridge is located 37 kilometers south of Kirkuk city center.

The project will enhance safety and accommodate the heavy traffic of passengers and goods on the road. Construction was completed in a record time of 200 days, adhering to the latest technical specifications.

The project included the demolition and removal of 48 concrete spans damaged by flash floods during the heavy rains and flood season in Wadi al-Shay, one of the largest flood valleys in Iraq, and the construction of a new concrete bridge with all its details.

The work also included furnishing and marking, installing lighting poles, and cladding the bridge approaches on both sides with stone, as well as lining the wadi bed with boulders and carrying out reinforcement and concrete pouring work.
