Baghdad: The Iraqi Minister of Transport Wahab al-Hassani and Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Ural met to deliberate on the latest developments in infrastructure projects and the advancement of Iraqi airports.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Transport released a statement indicating that the meeting between al-Hassani and Ural focused on the “Development Road” project. They assessed the progress in railway and road plans, and explored upcoming field plans and steps to ensure the project’s success. Both ministers acknowledged the significant economic impact the “Development Road” project holds for the region and emphasized the need to expedite the completion of plans.

In addition, they discussed updating several agreements concerning land transport to enhance the movement of trucks and trade between Iraq and Turkey. The discussions also touched on utilizing Turkish technology and expertise to improve road networks and infrastructure in Iraq.

The meeting also prioritized the civil aviation sector, exploring avenues to leverage Turkish expertise in airport management and development. This aims to upgrade infrastructure and improve services on Iraqi air routes and at airports.

Concluding the discussions, both parties reiterated their commitment to transforming these discussions into practical actions that will bolster sustainable development and benefit both nations. The statement highlighted that this visit is a preparatory step for further agreements expected to be signed during Prime Minister Ali al-Zubaidi’s upcoming visit to Ankara.
