Baghdad: The Mayor of Baghdad, Ammar Musa Kadhim, directed officials on Tuesday to expedite the completion of the final designs for the Sadr City project, adhering to the highest engineering standards. He noted that the project aims to develop infrastructure and improve the urban landscape of the capital.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Baghdad Municipality stated in a press release that Mayor Kadhim chaired an expanded meeting dedicated to reviewing the design phases for the Sadr City project. The meeting was attended by senior staff from the Design Department, as well as representatives from the design firm and the auditing firm.

The statement added that the meeting included a comprehensive review of the design phases and progress achieved, along with discussions of technical and engineering observations and obstacles hindering the work. Solutions and remedies were explored to overcome these challenges, ensuring the designs are completed according to the latest approved planning and engineering standards.

The Mayor of Baghdad, according to the statement, affirmed that “the Sadr City project represents one of the strategic projects aimed at developing infrastructure and improving the urban landscape in the capital.” He emphasized “the importance of unifying efforts and strengthening coordination between the Design Department, the design company, and the auditing company to expedite the completion of the final designs and fulfill all technical requirements within the specified timeframes.”

He stressed the importance of the quality and efficiency of the designs, paving the way for the next phases of project implementation, in line with the Baghdad Municipality’s vision of implementing integrated urban projects that contribute to improving services and providing a modern urban environment that meets the capital’s development needs.
