Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi hosted the 37th regular meeting of the State Administration Coalition on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. Attendees included the President of the Republic, the Speaker of the Council of Representatives, the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, the President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and leaders representing Iraq's national political forces. The agenda focused on the country's political, security, economic, and service conditions, as well as regional developments impacting Iraq.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister emphasized the government's commitment to enhancing security, improving public services, and tackling economic challenges, while prioritizing citizen interests. The coalition expressed support for initiatives to maintain security and ensure that all arms remain under state control, aligning with the Government Program ratified by the Council of Representatives.
The coalition underscored that any action threatening national security is a criminal offense, stressing that individuals involved will face constitutional consequences. The participants condemned recent attacks on the Iraqi Armed Forces and advocated for adherence to a timeline ensuring state control over arms by September 30, 2026, with violations subject to the Anti-Terrorism Law.
Discussions also covered economic strategies, emphasizing the need for continuous essential services, strategic projects, diversification of oil exports, enhancement of non-oil revenues, and measures against waste, smuggling, and corruption.
Regionally, the coalition supported de-escalation and dialogue efforts, rejecting force in dispute resolution, and expressed Iraq's readiness to facilitate regional conflict resolution to preserve security and shared interests.
The coalition reviewed developments in neighboring countries, stressing the importance of border security, counter-terrorism, combating narcotics trafficking and organized crime, and advancing Iraq's relations based on mutual interests and respect for sovereignty.
The meeting concluded with a call to expedite government formation and submit the Government Program for legislative approval.
